Amila C. Suraweera (born Suraweera Aarachchilage Amila Chaminda) is a B.Sc. Civil Engineer (A.M.I.E.S.L., M.C.E.A. UK further education, specializing in Water Resources Management & Concrete Structures) who has taught Combined Mathematics for the G.C.E. Advanced Level for over a decade.
He started school at the Thalagama Rajamaha Vihara preschool, completed grades 1–5 at his village primary school, and — after passing the scholarship entrance exam — continued grades 6–13 at a Central College. He went on to earn his Civil Engineering degree and further qualifications at the University of Peradeniya.
His teaching philosophy centers on complete, no-shortcuts theory for every syllabus unit, daily mixed-problem drilling in exam format, and monthly full-paper practice — building the same discipline that carried him from a village school to becoming an engineer.

“සර් මගේ Revision පාඨමාලාවට එකතුවෙන්නට කලින් Maths වෙනුවෙන් අවුරුදු කිහිපයක්ම වගේ ගණන් හදලා C සාමාර්ථයක් පමණක් ලැබුණ අතර, මම එතුවක්ම සංයුක්ත ගණිතයට කැමැත්තෙන් තියෙන්නෙ නැති කෙනෙක් කියලයි හිතුවේ. ඒත් අමිල සර්ගේ Revision පන්තියෙන් Theory වල පදනම හරියටම තේරුම් කරගන්නා ආකාරයෙන් උගන්වපු නිසා විෂය ගැන තිබූ බය නැති වුණා. සර් දුන් Revision පත්රිකා ලෙසින්ම දුන් අවබෝධයෙන් විෂය පුරාවටම විදිහට ලේසි කරගෙන යාමට හැකි වුණා. කෙසේ වුවත් සංයුක්ත ගණිතය සදහා නුවණ දැනුම සිත A සාමාර්ථයක් ලබාගැනීමට මට හැකි වුණා. තුන්වන පුනරීක්ෂණයේදීම නොනවත්දීම අමිල සර්ගේ පන්තියට යාහැකි වීම, කරගත් තීරණයක් ලෙස මම හඳුනා ගනිමි. එච්චිතුම පිටින්ම ආපහොත් සුමිට මගෙන් ස්තුතියි.”

“මම නුවර Class එනකොට Maths වලට කවුද හොදම සර් කියල දැනගෙන හිටියෙ නැහැ. ඒත් අමිල සර්ගේ පන්තියට ආපසු පළුවෙනි දවසෙම තේරුණා මම ආවෙ හොදම Class එකට කියල. ඒ තරම් හොදටද අමිල සර් Maths උගන්වනවා. කොහොම හරි Maths පාස් කර දෙනවාටත් වැඩිය සර් අපේ පීඨික සාර්ථක කරගන්න ලබා දෙන උපදෙස් විභාග ප්රතිපලයටත් එහා ගිය දෙයක් වගෙයි මට දැනුනේ.”
“සර් එකින් එක අලුත් ගැටලු ඇපට විසදන්න දෙන කොට මම ඒවා එකින් එක විසදන කොට මට දැනුනෙ Maths කියන්නෙ එච්චර අමාරු විෂයක් නොවේ කියල. ඒ හින්දා මට Maths Paper එක ගැන තව බයක් තිබුණෙම නෑ.”
“මේ නියාම මම දන්න හැමෝටම කියන්නේ අමිල සර්ගේ Maths Class එකටම යන්න කියල. අපි වගේ දුර බැහැරින් එන දුර දැරියන්ගේ ඉංජිනේරු සිහිනය සැබෑ කරන්න අමිල සර් හුඟක් වෙහෙසෙනවා. ඉනින් සර්ට අපි ඒ ණය ගෙවන මෙහෙම ලියල මදි. සර්ට තව නවත් සිසු සිසුවියන්ට උගන්වන්න ශක්තිය බෙහෝය ලැබෙන්වා යැයි මම ඉතා සිතින් ප්රාර්ථනා කරමි.”

“ගානක් හරියටම හදන්නත් කුම හොයන පන්තිය ඔනතරම් තියෙනවා. ඒත් ගානක් ගානක් විද්යාට හදන පන්නි නම් සොයා ගන්න එක ලේසි නෑ. අමිල සර්ගේ පන්තියෙන් මම ගාණක් ගාණක් විද්යාට හදන හැටි ඉගෙන ගත්තා. ඒ වගේම නියරියක් නියරියක් විද්යාට උගන්වපු එක සංයුක්ත ගණිතයට විතරක් නෙවෙයි ඉතිරි විෂයන් දෙකටත් මම ඒ විදිහට යොදා ගත්තා. ඒ ක්රමය කියලා දුන්නෙ මේ පන්තියෙන් අමිල සර්ම තමයි.”
“අන්තිම කාලේ මනාලෙසට කාලය කළමනාකරණය කරගෙන පාඩම් කරන්නත්, ඉහළ මට්ටමේ ප්රශ්න පත්ර සාකච්ඡාවත් හොද ප්රතිපලයක් ලබන්න ගොඩක් වැදගත් වුනා. මුළු සිලබස් එකම අකුරක් තර සම්මත ක්රමයටම අපි ඉගෙන ගත්තා. අනිත් විෂයන් දෙක සමත් වෙන්නත් ලොකු රැකුලක් වුනා.”

“2011 Exam එක සදහා අමිල සර්ගේ Class එකට සහභාගී වීමට ලැබීම මම ලැබූ භාග්යයක්. එය මට වැටහුනේ 2011 A/L Exam එකේ Maths Paper එකට මුහුණ දුන් මොහොතේ. දෙවරක් A/L Exam එකට මුහුණ දී නිකුත්, Maths Syllabus එකෙන් හරි හැටි නොදැන සිටි මට අමිල සර්ගේ සැලසුම්ගත ඉගැන්වීමන් හා මගපෙන්වීමන් නිසා නොවන වර A/L Exam එකට හොදින් මුහුණ දෙන්න හැකිවුණා. සර් විෂය නිර්දේශය කලට වේලාවට අංග සම්පූර්ණව ආවරණය කර දුන්නා.”
“Exam එකට මාස 3 කට කලින් සිට කරදු tute Class වැඩ පිළිවෙලින් කියා. Exam එකේදී කිසිදු වකිතයකින් හෝ බියකින් තොරව පැහැදිලිව පිළිතුරු ලිවීමට හැකිවුණා. වෙන කිසිදු Class එකක දක්නට නොලැබෙන සිසුන්ගේ ආත්ම විශ්වාසය හා බෙහෝය ඉහළ නංවන අමිල සර්ගේ විශේෂිත වැඩ පිළිවෙළන් මට ලොකු හයියක් වුනා. ඒ නිසා ම Maths වලට A සාමාර්ථයන් ලබා ගනිමින් ගම්පහ දිස්ත්රික්කයේ 5 වන ස්ථානයෙන් (පෙරණි නිර්දේශය යටතේ) මොරටුව ඉංජිනේරු පීඨයට සුදුසුකම් ලැබීම හැකිවුණා.”
